Story of The Mad Carpenter

Growing up on a dairy farm in a small rural town in the Manawatu, before I was old enough to go to school, my parents were having alterations added to their 1960's style farm house from a local builder friend of theirs. I went to step into the new lounge he was working on, only to be told "only builders are allowed to be in here" to which I replied, "I will be the best builder one day"  Thus The Mad Carpenter was born.

Moving to Canterbury when I was 10, I already had my mind set onto what I wanted to achieve, all through school I was dedicated to learning subjects that would only help me to become the best carpenter, then as soon as I could, left school and pursued my dream. From the very beginning I was focused on creating the best work, pouring my heart and soul into everything I've created. I worked with award winning companies throughout my apprenticeship and learned skills across the board from some of the best. Since then I have already worked on award projects, such as the Aubyn View kitchen and The Britten Stables, which was featured on season 4 of Grand Designs, along with other smaller projects that have had just as much love placed into them.

By choosing to use The Mad Carpenter for your next project you will be greeted with a relaxed attitude but fast and quality work pace. I take pride in maintaining happy and positive relationships with all of my clients to ensure the job gets done with as little stress as possible, so you will have peace of mind that the job will be done right. I work hard and I play hard. Slowly travelling around the world and taking inspiration from each country I visit, to be able to give me ideas to incorporate into my next project.

I've recently completed work and learned the ins and outs of Passive house building. If your interested to find out more (highly recommend you do, as it will save you massively on power and create all the comfort) then please feel free to get in touch. I'm more than happy to share my experience for this relatively new concept to New Zealand.
