Story of The Mad Carpenter
Growing up on a dairy farm in a small rural town in Manawatu, before I was old enough to go to school, my parents were having alterations added to their 1960's style farmhouse from a local builder friend of theirs. I went to step into the new lounge he was working on, only to hear, "only builders are allowed to be in here," to which I replied, "I will be the best builder one day" Thus, The Mad Carpenter was born.

Moving to Canterbury when I was 10, I already had my mindset on what I wanted to achieve. All through school, I dedicated myself to learning subjects that would only help me become the best carpenter, then, as soon as I could, I left school and pursued my dream. I was focused on creating the best work from the beginning, pouring my heart and soul into everything I've made. I worked with award-winning companies throughout my apprenticeship and learned skills from some of the best across the board. Since then, I have already worked on award-winning projects, such as the Aubyn View kitchen and The Britten Stables, which featured on season 4 of Grand Designs, along with other smaller projects that have had just as much love placed into them.

I've recently completed work and learned the ins and outs of Passive house building. If you are interested in finding out more (I highly recommend you do, as it will save you massively on power and create all the comfort), please feel free to get in touch. I'm more than happy to share my experience with this relatively new concept in New Zealand.
